Collection: Bib Cock 2 Way
A two way bib cock is a wall tap with one inlet and two outlets. The second outlet is the entire difference from a plain bib cock: instead of one wall point serving only the tap, it serves the tap and a second connection at the same time, which in Indian homes is most often a washing machine inlet or a health faucet. It saves opening the wall to add a second supply point. The taps here are cast from solid lead-free brass ingot with a three-layer plated finish of copper, 10-micron nickel and 0.3-micron chromium, across five design series from around ₹1,280 to around ₹1,900. Each has a quarter-turn lever over a ceramic disc cartridge tested beyond 5,00,000 operations and a food-grade plastic foam-flow aerator at the outlet.
How to choose a two way bib cock
-
Confirm you actually need the second outlet. If nothing but the tap comes off that wall point, the plain single-outlet bib cock does the job for less money and has one fewer connection to leak. The two way version earns its price only when a second appliance or fitting has to be fed.
-
Plan where the second connection goes. The second outlet is usually taken to a washing machine inlet hose or a health faucet. Check the run before fitting, because the tap position now has to suit two things rather than one, and a badly placed second outlet leaves a hose stretched across a doorway.
-
Quarter-turn on a ceramic disc cartridge. The lever travels a quarter turn from shut to fully open, sealing on ceramic discs rather than a rubber washer, so there is no washer to harden and drip. The cartridge is rated beyond 5,00,000 operations.
-
Lead-free brass body. The bodies are cast from solid lead-free brass ingot, keeping the waterway free of lead, which is worth having on a tap that fills buckets and vessels as well as feeding an appliance.
-
Series is style, not function. The five series share the same body material, plating specification, cartridge and aerator. The spread from around ₹1,280 to ₹1,900 reflects design and casting rather than performance.
Fitting, pressure and hard water
A two way bib cock needs to be positioned for both jobs at once: low enough to fill a bucket comfortably under the spout, and placed so the second outlet reaches the appliance or health faucet without a taut hose. Getting this right at the plumbing stage is far easier than moving it afterwards.
The aerator at the outlet mixes air into the stream, cutting splash noise during bucket filling and saving around 20 per cent of the water compared with an unaerated flow. On a building fed by gravity from an overhead tank, the stream is gentler than the same tap on a pressure pump. In hard-water areas the aerator scales before anything else does, and unscrewing and cleaning it usually restores the flow. Wipe the body with a soft cloth and avoid harsh cleaning detergents. Up to ten years of service warranty applies once the product is registered on the Jabon Bagno website.
Common questions
What does 2 way mean on a bib cock? It means the tap has two outlets fed from a single inlet. Water comes out of the main spout as on any bib cock, and a second connection point on the body feeds something else, typically a washing machine or a health faucet.
Should I buy a 2 way bib cock or a plain bib cock? Buy the two way version only if a second fitting genuinely has to be fed from that wall point. Where the tap is all you need, the plain bib cock is simpler and cheaper, and it is stocked in the same five design series so the look matches across the bathroom.
Can I use the second outlet for a washing machine? That is the most common use for it in Indian homes, along with feeding a health faucet. It lets one wall supply point serve both the tap and the machine without cutting into the wall for a separate connection. Check that the outlet and your machine's inlet hose are compatible before installation.
