Collection: Wall Mixer 2-Way
A 2-way wall mixer is the standard Indian bathroom fitting: hot and cold inlets feed one wall-mounted body, the handles set the mix and the flow, and a diverter sends that mixed water to one of two outlets, normally the bath spout below and the overhead shower above. Two outlets is what 2-way refers to. If you also want a hand shower or a health faucet from the same mixer, you need the third outlet of a 3-way wall mixer. Every mixer here is cast from solid lead-free brass ingot and plated in copper, 10-micron nickel and 0.3-micron chromium, with a ceramic disc cartridge rated beyond 5,00,000 operations. Prices run from around Rs 4,140 to Rs 5,840.
How to choose a 2-way wall mixer
-
Count your outlets first. Bath spout plus overhead shower is two, and a 2-way is right. Add a hand shower or health faucet and you need a 3-way.
-
Check the inlet centres. Wall mixers fit the hot and cold pipe centres already built into the wall. Confirm the spacing on site, because a mismatch means breaking tiles.
-
Exposed or concealed. These sit on the wall face. A concealed diverter buried in the wall is a different fitting and a decision best made before tiling.
-
Look at the cartridge, not the chrome. A ceramic disc cartridge is what stops a mixer dripping after two years. Rubber washer bodies are cheaper and need re-washering.
Installation and water pressure
A wall mixer works on gravity-fed overhead tank supply as well as on a pressure pump, because it is mechanical and does not need balanced pressure to function. What it does need is roughly equal pressure on both inlets to hold a comfortable temperature; if the geyser line and the cold line come from very different heads, the mix drifts as you change the flow. On hard water the diverter stiffens first as scale builds in the spindle, so work it fully both ways every so often.
Common questions
What does 2-way mean on a wall mixer? The body has two outlets and a diverter to choose between them, typically the bath spout and the overhead shower. It does not refer to hot and cold inlets, which every mixer has.
Can I add a health faucet to a 2-way wall mixer? Not from the mixer itself; both outlets are already spoken for. Either move up to a 3-way wall mixer or take the health faucet off a separate angle valve.
Does a wall mixer need a pressure pump? No. It runs on overhead tank pressure. A pump improves the feel of the overhead shower but is not required for the mixer to work.
