Collection: Towel Ring
A towel ring is the fitting nearest the basin, used several times a day, and the one that shows corrosion first if the material is wrong. This range covers three groups. SS 304 stainless steel rings in chrome, black PU and rose gold finishes sit at the practical end, from around ₹375. Brass rings with a chrome finish run through several design series from around ₹790 to ₹1,990, with a twin ring and a brass towel rod in graphite and in green and gold at the top of the range, up to about ₹2,800. The third group is self-adhesive: no-drill SS 304 rings in matt and capsule shapes, around ₹450 to ₹500, for rented flats and finished tile you do not want to cut.
How to choose a towel ring
-
SS 304 or brass. SS 304 stainless steel resists rust and pitting where humidity is constant, which is what matters in a coastal home or a bathroom that stays damp through the monsoon. Brass is heavier and takes decorative finishes better, and with chrome plating over it holds up well in a normal dry-out bathroom.
-
Drilled or self-adhesive. Drilled fixings are permanent and carry a wet towel without question. Self-adhesive rings suit rented homes and finished tile, and hold well on clean, smooth, fully cured surfaces - but they are for hand towels, not a soaking bath sheet.
-
Single or twin. A twin ring gives two people their own towel without a second set of holes. Spacing them apart still dries towels faster.
-
Ring or rod. A ring suits a hand towel beside the basin. A towel rod holds a full bath towel spread out, which dries it much faster in humid weather.
-
Match the finish. Chrome is the default that agrees with most CP fittings. Black, rose gold and graphite work only if the robe hook, paper holder and tap are in the same family.
Placement and care
Mount a towel ring beside the basin at a height where a towel hangs clear of the counter and the floor - usually a little above counter level, on the side you reach with your dominant hand. Drill tile with a tile bit at low speed through a strip of masking tape so the bit does not wander, and avoid grout lines. For a self-adhesive ring, the tile must be clean, dry and free of any cleaner residue, and the adhesive needs a full day to cure before a towel goes on it. For care, chrome tolerates mild descaling where hard water spots it; black PU, rose gold and graphite finishes want a soft damp cloth only, because abrasive cleaners lift the finish at the high points and it will not come back.
Common questions
Which lasts longer, brass or stainless steel? In a constantly damp or coastal bathroom, SS 304 stainless steel. In a normal bathroom that dries out between uses, chrome-plated brass lasts just as long and feels heavier.
Do no-drill towel rings really hold? On clean, smooth, fully cured tile they hold a hand towel reliably. Use drilled fixings for a wet bath towel.
Should I fit a towel ring or a towel rod? A ring beside the basin for hand towels, a rod for bath towels. A rod spreads the towel out, which matters in humid weather when a bunched towel simply does not dry.
