Collection: Robe Hook
A robe hook is the smallest fitting in a bathroom and the one most used, so it is worth choosing on material rather than price alone. The range splits cleanly in two. The first group is plain wall hooks in stainless steel and brass, in chrome and black finishes, priced from around ₹200 to ₹700 - the functional hook that goes behind a door or beside a shower. The second group is decorative solid brass hooks shaped as figures: horses, deer, elephants, butterflies, a teddy bear and an angel, in black, white, gold, chrome and a green and gold finish, from around ₹1,100 to ₹2,200. These are bought for a child's bathroom, an entrance wall or a guest bath where the hook is meant to be noticed.
How to choose a robe hook
-
Match the material to the room. Stainless steel resists rust where humidity is constant, which matters in coastal homes and bathrooms that stay damp through the monsoon. Solid brass is heavier and takes decorative shapes and finishes better.
-
Single or double prong. A single hook takes one towel or robe. If two people share the bathroom, two separate hooks spaced apart work better than one double hook, because wet towels dry faster when they are not touching.
-
Match the finish to your other fittings. Chrome is the safe default because it sits with most CP fittings. Black and gold look deliberate only if the towel ring, paper holder and tap agree with them.
-
Check the weight you will hang. A wet bath towel is heavier than it looks. A brass hook on proper wall fixings carries it; a light hook on weak plugs will pull out of the wall.
-
Position before you drill. Around 1.6 to 1.7 m from the floor keeps a full-length robe off the ground. Behind the door or on the wall outside the shower are the two positions that actually get used.
Fixing and finish care
Most of these hooks are wall-mounted with screws and plugs. Tile is the usual surface, so drill with a tile bit at low speed, mark through a strip of tape to stop the bit wandering, and try to land in the tile rather than on a grout line. On a hollow partition wall use an appropriate anchor, not a plain plug. For care, chrome tolerates mild descaling where hard water leaves spotting; matt black, gold and PU finishes should only see a soft damp cloth, since abrasive cleaners take the finish off the high points first and it does not come back.
Common questions
Where should a robe hook go? Roughly 1.6 to 1.7 m from the floor, behind the door or on the wall just outside the shower, so a hanging robe or towel does not touch the floor.
Brass or stainless steel? Stainless steel for a wet, humid or coastal bathroom. Solid brass where you want weight and a decorative shape or a gold finish.
Will a decorative hook hold a wet towel? The solid brass figurative hooks are substantial enough to. The limit is usually the wall fixing, not the hook, so use the right plug for your wall.
