Collection: Wall Mixer 3-Way

A 3-way wall mixer is the larger sibling of the 2-way body. It has the same hot and cold inlets and the same quarter-turn action, but the diverter serves three outlet positions instead of two. In a typical Indian bathroom that means the bath spout, the overhead shower and a third line for a hand shower or a health faucet, all controlled from one wall body. If your bathroom only needs a spout and an overhead shower, a 2-way wall mixer does the job for less. Every mixer here is cast from solid lead-free brass ingot, plated in copper, 10-micron nickel and 0.3-micron chromium, with a ceramic disc cartridge rated beyond 5,00,000 operations. Prices run from around Rs 4,450 to Rs 6,450.

How to choose a 3-way wall mixer

  • Plan the three outlets before you buy. The third outlet only earns its cost if it is actually plumbed. Decide now whether it feeds a hand shower, a health faucet or a body jet.
  • Allow for the third pipe. Unlike a 2-way, this body needs a third run of pipe chased into the wall. On a renovation that is the real decision, not the tap itself.
  • Check the inlet centres at the wall. The hot and cold pipe centres are fixed once the wall is tiled, so confirm the spacing on site before ordering.
  • Exposed body or concealed. These mount on the wall face. If you want only a plate and handle showing, you are looking at a concealed diverter or a thermostatic diverter instead.

Installation and pressure

A wall mixer is a mechanical mixer, so it runs on gravity-fed overhead tank supply without a pump. It holds temperature best when hot and cold arrive at roughly the same pressure; where a geyser line and a cold line come from very different heads, the mix shifts as you change the flow. That is true of any manual mixer, and it is the reason a thermostatic diverter exists as a separate category. On hard water, work the diverter fully between outlets from time to time so scale does not build around the spindle.

Common questions

What is the difference between a 2-way and a 3-way wall mixer? The number of outlets the diverter can feed. A 2-way serves two, normally the bath spout and the overhead shower. A 3-way adds a third, usually a hand shower or a health faucet.

Can I replace a 2-way wall mixer with a 3-way? Only if a third outlet pipe can be run. The inlets are the same, but the extra outlet needs a pipe chased to wherever it is going, which usually means breaking tiles.

Will all three outlets run at once? No. The diverter sends water to one outlet position at a time, which is what keeps the pressure usable at whichever outlet you have selected.
